In celebration of Pride Month in June, the Nomura PRIDE Network in partnership with Mizuho’s Pride Network, invite you to join them for a fireside chat with Olympic silver medalist skier, Gus Kenworthy, as he shares his journey of breaking barriers in sports, advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, and using his platform to champion causes close to his heart. Moderating the event will be Tom Salatte, Managing Director, Head of the Global Legal Documentation at Nomura Americas and Executive Sponsor for Nomura’s PRIDE Network.
A celebratory reception with food and refreshments will follow.
More about the speaker:
Gus Kenworthy is a British-American former freestyle skier and won the silver medal in men’s slopestyle at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. He made headlines in 2015 when he came out as openly gay in an ESPN interview, becoming the first Olympian action-sports star to do so. Since then, he has used his platform to advocate for LGBT+ rights, particularly within the athletic community.
In 2019, he joined approximately 2,000 cyclists in AIDS/Lifecycle, a 545-mile, weeklong journey from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise awareness and funds in the fight against AIDS. This year, Gus will participate again this June, continuing his commitment to this important cause.
